The Israeli military has killed a Palestinian woman and her son in the northern Gaza Strip, amid the regime’s ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.
The official Palestinian WAFA news agency, citing local sources, reported that Israeli gunfire killed a 70‑year‑old woman and her son in Gaza City’s al‑Zaytoun neighborhood on Saturday.
Following the incident, the woman and her son were taken to Gaza City’s al-Ahli Arab Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed in Gaza since Saturday morning to eight.
According to local health authorities, the casualties on Saturday included two people in Beit Lahiya, one in Jabalia, and two in Al-Zaytoun. Additionally, one man succumbed to wounds sustained earlier, while rescue teams recovered the bodies of two others.
Israeli forces were also reported to have demolished several buildings and structures in the Shujaiya neighborhood, situated to the east of Gaza City, as part of the ongoing military operations in the area.
Since October 2023, the Israeli army has killed at least 70,354 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and wounded 171,030 others.
The onslaught has also led to the widespread destruction of homes and civilian infrastructure, creating a dire situation for the territory's surviving inhabitants.
Despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect on October 11, Israeli attacks have continued. Since the truce began, 367 Palestinians have been killed and 953 injured, while 624 bodies have been recovered, according to health officials.
