Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani has announced that he is traveling to the “friendly and brotherly country” of Pakistan.

“Today, I am traveling to Pakistan, our friendly and brotherly country in the region”, Larijani wrote in a post on his X account on Monday.

Referring to Pakistan’s support during the US-Israeli aggression in June, he added, “Iranians do not forget that during the 12-day war by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran, the Pakistani nation stood by the Iranian nation.”

On June 13, Israel launched an unprovoked war against Iran, assassinating many high-ranking military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.

More than a week later, the United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

On June 24, Iran, through its successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the US, managed to impose a halt to the illegal assault.

Larijani underscored that Iran and Pakistan are “two important and influential countries” in ensuring regional stability, adding that Tehran attaches great importance to maintaining fraternal relations among regional states.

In October, during a meeting with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran, Larijani underlined the geopolitical importance of both countries in regional equations.

Larijani said today’s regional environment is marked by shared challenges and adversaries, requiring “tangible, coordinated, and comprehensive action among Muslim nations.”

He also emphasized the need to deepen cooperation in security, defense, political, and especially economic fields.

Earlier in November, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf embarked on an official visit to Islamabad to strengthen bilateral ties through high-level talks focused on parliamentary, political, security, and economic cooperation.

In August, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visited the neighboring country of Pakistan, during which Tehran and Islamabad signed 12 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) in various sectors.

The agreements covered a wide range of areas, including tourism, agriculture, judicial and legal cooperation, industry, science and technology, transportation and transit, cultural heritage, and commercial and economic cooperation.

Pakistan, Iran’s most populous neighbor with bilateral trade exceeding $3 billion, has joined Iran in expressing a determination to boost trade volume to $10 billion through targeted planning and by removing existing barriers.
