The armed wing of the Palestinian resistance group Hamas has claimed responsibility for the shooting operation in the occupied al-Quds that killed six Israeli settlers and wounded 15 others.
The al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing, announced the claim in a statement posted on its Telegram channel on Tuesday.
“The al-Qassam Brigades announces its responsibility for the shooting attack that took place yesterday (Monday) morning... near the Ramot settlement junction, which lies on the lands of our beloved al-Quds,” the statement read.
Hamas stated that the operation struck at the heart of Israel's security apparatus and underscored the determination of Palestinian youth to continue confronting the Israeli occupation.
The resistance group added that Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza will not weaken the morale of the Palestinian nation.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Jihad resistance movement described the operation as a natural and legitimate response to the ongoing Israeli crimes against the Palestinians.
The latest operation came hours after the Palestinian resistance dealt a new blow to the Israeli army, killing four soldiers near Jabalia in northern Gaza.
According to Israeli media, resistance fighters threw an explosive device at an Israeli tank, destroying it and killing all the crew members.
Resistance fighters have recently conducted a series of operations in response to Israel’s intensified strikes on Gaza.
Last week, the al-Qassam Brigades had warned that Israel’s aggression on Gaza City would come at the cost of its soldiers and captives.
