Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has publicly acknowledged that the regime is arming criminal gangs in Gaza to fight Hamas. The remark follows reports by Israeli media that the premier had authorized the arming of some 100 members of a particular clan based in southern Gaza.
The gang, which presents itself as an opposition force to Hamas, stands accused of plundering humanitarian aid and contributing to the Israeli campaign to starve Palestinians.
The Israeli regime has a history of supporting terrorists in the region. During the Syrian war, the regime supported al-Qaeda groups and trained and armed them in the occupied Golan Heights. Israel has also been accused of supporting Daesh terrorists in Syria and Iraq.
