US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
Israel continues its airstrikes and shelling against Gaza, resulting in more Palestinian casualties and destruction in the besieged strip. The regime’s forces have killed nearly 40 Palestinians and injured over 90 others in a day. The latest Israeli attacks took place in the northern Gaza City, killing 4 Palestinians and wounding many others, mostly women and children. A residential block in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza was also destroyed, while artillery fire near the southern Rafah city claimed another Palestinian life. Meanwhile, a six-year-old Palestinian boy died from starvation and dehydration, raising the malnutrition death toll to 39. Additionally, a journalist was killed in Khan Yunis, bringing the total number of media workers killed to 164. Since October, over 39,300 people have been killed in the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza while nearly 91,000 have been injured.

Gaza ceasefire efforts

The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is stalling a ceasefire deal in Gaza by setting new conditions and making new demands. The statement came after lack of progress in the latest round of internationally-mediated ceasefire talks in Rome. Hamas says Netanyahu retreated from an earlier draft, which was already based on an Israeli proposal. Many, including Israel’s allies, believe that Netanyahu is prolonging the genocidal war in Gaza for his own political interests. The Israeli prime minister has repeatedly rejected Hamas’s demands for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, which involves the full withdrawal of the regime forces from the strip.

Iran support for Palestine

The new Iranian president says the country’s support for the Palestinian cause will remain firm despite the change in administrations. Masoud Pezeshkian was speaking to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad chief, Ziyad Nakhale, in Tehran. Pezeshkian stressed that nothing can undermine Iran's determination to support the Palestinian cause, including the liberation of occupied al-Quds. The Iranian president also highlighted the importance of unity among Muslim nations to force Israel to stop its crimes in Gaza. Nakhale for his part stated that Palestinian people will never forget Iran’s support. In a separate meeting with the Hezbollah deputy secretary general, Sheikh Naim Qassem, the new Iranian president stressed that bolstering relations with Muslim countries is among his administration’s foreign policy priorities.
