'Paying tribute to Raeisi'

A ceremony has been held by the leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution to pay homage to Late President Ebrahim Raeisi and several others who lost their lives in a tragic copter crash on Sunday. Hundreds of people, including foreign dignitaries, attended the ceremony in the presence of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in Tehran. President Raisi, the eighth president of Iran, died after a helicopter carrying him and his entourage crashed in the Varzegan region in East Azarbaijan province on May 19th. Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and a number of senior provincial officials were also on board the ill-fated helicopter. The crash sent a shockwave throughout the world, with heads of state and officials sending messages of condolence to the Iranian leadership and people. Iran had declared a five-day public mourning for the late president and his companions.

US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

It’s day 232 of the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza; the Tel Aviv regime keeps pounding the blockaded territory with more air and artillery strikes. At least four people were killed after warplanes struck their homes in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. Six Palestinians were killed by Israeli live rounds near Wadi Gaza Bridge, also in central Gaza. Over seven months of Israeli onslaught has brought most of Gaza’s health facilities to a breaking point. The UN has already warned that some 20 new-born babies are at risk as ventilators at al-Aqsa Martyrs hospitals will stop working due to lack of fuel. In the meantime, the Israeli military is pressing ahead with its offensive in Rafah, in defiance of international calls. At least 35,850 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched its war on Gaza in early October.

Resistance retaliates

Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement has carried out at least 11 new operations against Israeli military positions. In separate statements, the resistance movement said it struck military and espionage equipment in northern parts of the occupied territories. Hezbollah added that it targeted several Israeli forces as well as military vehicles with missiles and drones. The movement says the operations are in retaliation for attacks by the regime against civilians and residential buildings in Lebanon and in solidarity with Palestinians. Hezbollah and the Israeli military have been exchanging fire along Lebanon’s southern border since the regime began its genocide on Gaza in early October.
