President Raeisi’s memorial service held at UN office in Geneva

The UN office in Geneva hosted a memorial service for Iran's late president Ebrahim Raeisi and foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who lost their lives in a helicopter crash in northwestern Iran on Sunday.

The session was conducted by envoys from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, who paid tribute to the late Iranian president and his entourage.

Ali Bahraini, Iran's ambassador to the Geneva-based UN bodies, delivered an address at the ceremony, highlighting President Raeisi’s defense of Islamic values in the international arena.

"The Islamic community will not forget Raeisi's fierce defense of the Quran against the insolence displayed by some West-backed malefactors. During the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, he raised the Al-Mushaf Al-Sharif above his head and spoke out in defense of the Holy Quran."

Bahraini also underscored Raeisi's efforts to promote unity among Muslims worldwide. "In line with the principal foreign policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, both the late Iranian president and the Foreign Minister endeavored to enhance the unity of the Islamic world."

"He (Amir-Abdollahian) worked with strong determination to enhance relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Islamic states, following Iran's principal policies, and took significant and notable steps in this regard."

The ambassador also highlighted the relentless efforts by foreign minister Amir-Abdollahian to restore the rights of the Palestinian people and liberate the holy Quds, calling him one of the Mujahideen who campaigned in the struggle to liberate Palestine.

"When it came to Palestine, they spared no diplomatic effort to restore all rights of the resilient and oppressed people of Palestine. The late Minister, Amir-Abdollahian, deserves to be described as a Mujahid for the freedom of Palestine."

"We hope that their legacy of justice, peace, and well-being will continue to benefit their nation, the Islamic community, and humanity," he said.

The Iranian envoy stressed that Iran will continue earnestly on the "blessed path of strengthening Islamic unity and fostering good neighborliness."

"It will spare no effort to achieve the interests of the Islamic nation by drawing on the teachings of Islam and promoting unity and harmony at the international level."
