Israeli soldier posts footage of sacrilege against Holy Qur’an at Gaza mosque

This still image from social media shows an Israeli soldier desecrating the Holy Qur'an at a mosque in Gaza.

Social media footage shows an Israeli soldier throwing pages of the Muslim holy book of the Qur'an into fire inside a bombed-out mosque in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The soldier appears to be a member of the Givati Brigade, with Israeli media reports, quoting military sources, confirming on Thursday that the soldier posted the footage on his Instagram account.

In March, videos appeared on social media, showing one soldier tearing apart a copy of the Qur'an in a mosque in Gaza.

Israeli soldiers have reportedly committed multiple incidents of sacrilegious and blasphemous acts against Islamic sanctities since early October.

The regime has destroyed more than 220 mosques and damaged at least 280 across the besieged Palestinian territory since. Many of the destroyed mosques are of historical background and among the oldest in the region.

Prior incidents, including videos of soldiers beating or stripping Palestinian prisoners, graffiti on Gaza buildings, and taking civilian property, have been cited by international bodies.

Since the beginning of the barbarous Israeli campaign in Gaza in October 2023, the regime has massacred more than 35,800 Palestinians.
