Iraqi resistance will only halt their attacks if Israel's crimes in Gaza stop: Lawmaker

An Iraqi legislator says the country’s anti-terror resistance groups will continue their support and resilience with Palestinians and conduct more operations against Israeli interests until the usurping regime stops its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

Hassan Salem, a member of the Iraqi parliament and head of the al-Sadiqun (the Honest Ones) political party, said on Sunday that the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of anti-terror fighters, will continue standing by their “brothers in Palestine” and pound Israeli targets.

He noted that Iraqi resistance groups have delivered stinging blows to US military forces, pushing withdrawal of occupation troops from Iraq and the rest of West Asia.

“The presence of US soldiers in Iraq and the region is shrinking, thanks to operations being carried out by resistance fighters. The resistance front played a significant role in diminishing the United States’ influence on Iraq. The resistance groups’ retaliatory operations place Washington and its allies under pressure in Iraq and elsewhere in the region.

“The resistance groups’ operations are in line with Operation Al-Aqsa Storm and support of Gaza-based movements. They will continue as long as the Zionist enemy continues to massacre the Palestinian population there,” Salem pointed out.

The remarks came hours after the Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for a drone attack on a “vital” site at the port city of Eilat in the southernmost part of the 1948 Israeli-occupied territories in response to the Tel Aviv regime’s unrelenting ground and aerial strikes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

It said the drone strike was carried out in continuation of the struggle against the occupying Israeli regime, in support of Palestinians in Gaza, and in retaliation for the massacres that the usurping Zionist entity is perpetrating against women, children and elderly people in the besieged territory.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq vowed to proceed with its retaliatory operations until Israel stops its genocide in Gaza.

The coalition has been staging many such attacks on Israeli targets since the occupying regime launched a genocidal war on Gaza in October.

Israel launched its atrocious onslaught against the Gaza Strip, targeting hospitals, residences, and houses of worship since Palestinian resistance movements launched a surprise attack, dubbed Operation al-Aqsa Storm, against the usurping regime on October 7.

At least 33,173 Palestinians have been killed, most of them women and children. Another 75,815 individuals have sustained injuries as well.
