Leader praises emergency medical dispatcher for rescuing mother, baby trapped in snow

Masoumeh Mehravar, a midwife in the emergency call center, helped a mother trapped in the snow to deliver her baby in late February 2024.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has praised an emergency medical dispatcher for rescuing a mother and her baby who were trapped in snow in northern Iran.

During a phone call, Mohammad Golpaygani, the head of the office of Ayatollah Khamenei conveyed the Leader’s appreciation message to the hard-working emergency medical dispatcher.

Masoumeh Mehravar, a midwife in the emergency call center, 115, helped a mother who was trapped in snow in Jajan Village in Mazandaran Province to give birth safely.

On February 28, Mehravar provided essential medical instructions to the mother’s husband, enabling him to assist his wife and save both her life and the baby’s. The heavy snowfall had hindered the ambulance from reaching them.

The compassionate voice of the dispatcher, as she guided the husband through critical instructions, went viral across social media, capturing the hearts of netizens. When the husband successfully made the baby cry by following her guidance, the dispatcher’s emotions overwhelmed her and she burst into tears, celebrating the moment with her colleagues.

According to the head of Babol Emergency Medical Services (EMS), both the lives of the baby and the mother were in danger as the baby didn’t cry when he was born and the placenta was not delivered.

The mother and her baby were later transferred to the hospital after paramedics managed to reach them with great difficulty, and with the help of the vehicles of the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization and the Iranian Red Crescent Society.

Jajan Village lies in the heart of the Hyrcanian forests in Babol Kenar District in Babol County.
