US-Israeli genocide
The World Health Organization says Gaza’s largest functioning hospital is now out of service after a weeks-long siege and repeated raids by Israeli forces. WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus says the Israeli military has blocked the organization’s access to Nasser Hospital since Friday. Tedros says the WHO team was to assess the conditions of the patients and critical medical needs. Tedros is warning about the loss of life at the hospital, which he says is now housing some 200 patients. These include at least 20 people with an urgent need for referral to other hospitals. Gaza’s health officials earlier said Israeli forces have detained a large number of medical staff inside the hospital. Regime forces raided the facility on Thursday. Meanwhile, Israeli raids have killed some 83 people in Gaza since Saturday. Nearly 29,000 Palestinians have been killed and about one and a half million displaced in the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip since October 7.
US blocks ceasefire
The US has threatened to once again veto a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Algeria has proposed the text and requested a UN Security Council vote on Tuesday. The draft also rejects the forced displacement of the Palestinians in Gaza. The US ambassador to the UN says the country does not support action on the draft resolution, vowing that it will NOT be adopted. This comes as Palestinian UN envoy Riyad Mansour recently said there is "massive support" for the text's elements among council members. In October and December, Washington vetoed UN Security Council texts calling for a ceasefire despite international pressure over Gaza's growing humanitarian crisis.
'Stop the genocide'
Hundreds of thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters have again marched through central London calling on the British government to push for a ceasefire in Gaza and to stop its military and political support for apartheid Israel.
