PA calls on Israel to hand over Gaza infant girl kidnapped by regime’s officer

Israeli military officer Captain Harel Itach kidnapped a Palestinian infant girl from Gaza Strip. He was killed during the war on November 22, 2023.

The Foreign Ministry of the Palestinian Authority (PA) has condemned the “kidnapping” of a Palestinian infant girl by an Israeli officer in the Gaza Strip, calling on the occupying regime to release the baby.

The ministry made the call on Tuesday, days after Israeli soldier Shachar Mendelson, an associate of Captain Harel Itach, told Israel’s Army Radio that the officer had taken a Palestinian infant to a hospital in the occupied territories after Israeli airstrikes claimed the lives of her entire family in Gaza.

Itach was killed in the Gaza war on November 22 and thus the identity and whereabouts of the kidnapped baby remain unknown.

Israel’s Army Radio deleted the tweet that mentioned the abduction of the Gaza infant.

“The kidnapping of the infant girl from the Gaza Strip is evidence that the occupation army is committing the most heinous crimes against civilians without oversight or accountability,” the PA Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“The ministry calls on the occupation authorities to immediately hand over the infant to the Palestinian National Authority.”

Israel waged the genocidal war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian Hamas resistance group carried out a historic operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Since the start of the aggression, the Tel Aviv regime has been committing brutal war crimes in Gaza, killing at least 21,978 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 57,697 others.

Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under the rubble in the Gaza Strip, which is under “complete siege” by Israel.
