President Ebrahim Raeisi says Iran’s support for Gaza and Palestine is based on the Constitution of the Islamic Republic, adding that advocating for the Palestinians was the number-one priority since the 1979 Islamic Republic.

Speaking at a conference in Tehran on Sunday, Raeisi emphasized that the tendencies of some regional countries do not compromise the constitutional principle behind the support for Palestine.

“Our support for Gaza and Palestine is based on the Constitution. Backing the oppressed is among the foundations of the Constitution. Thus, supporting Palestine has been the foremost issue of the [Islamic] Revolution since its onset,” he said.

“We cannot stop adhering to the principles. The inclinations of some parties in the region will not compromise this principle of the Constitution.”

The Iranian chief executive also described the Iranian Constitution as the most progressive among all countries.

He further cited an African jurist as saying that the Constitution of the Islamic Republic is a combination of democracy and ideals.

‘Divine revenge to end Zionist regime’

Meanwhile, Raeisi referred to the brutal Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip that has so far killed more than 15,200 Palestinians and left vast swathes of the besieged territory in ruins.

He said that huge gatherings are being held across the world as the Zionist regime’s racial discrimination, murder, injustice and oppression against the Palestinian people have been exposed.

“We do not doubt that the divine revenge will emerge from the blood of 6,000 children, who were martyred oppressively, and that it will end the cruel and fake Zionist regime.”

Israel waged the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian Hamas resistance group conducted Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Iran hailed the historic Palestinian operation that shattered the Tel Aviv regime’s so-called myth of invincibility.
