Palestine and Africa

The world has witnessed horrific and unprecedented scenes in Gaza as the Israeli apartheid regime continues its genocidal war against Palestinians in this besieged territory.

Israeli regime's troops have killed thousands of innocent Palestinians, most of them children, women and the elderly. The genocide in Gaza brings to mind the atrocities perpetrated by European colonial powers in Africa. The Israeli occupation of Palestine continues to rely on strategies similar to those used by European powers during the evil slave trade, colonialism, and apartheid in Africa.

Nelson Mandela, the former South African president and an anti-apartheid hero, supported resistance and fought for the liberation of all oppressed peoples around the world. Mandela was particularly categorical in his opposition to the Israeli apartheid regime's occupation of Palestine.

The current genocidal war perpetrated by Israel against Palestinians in Gaza has once again reminded the world and especially Africans of the pronouncement by Mandela that, "We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians." So when will Africa fulfill this wish of Nelson Mandela?
