Iran’s human capital index above global average: Minister
Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ehsan Khandouzi says the country’s capability in mobilizing its human capital is above the global average based on a measurement provided by the World Bank’s Human Resources Committee (HRC).
After attending an HRC meeting on Saturday, Khadouzi said that Iran’s score on the Human Capital Index (HCI) is 0.59, above a global average of 0.56, based on a table issued by the World Bank in 2020.
He said that Iran’s score on the index is set to improve, considering the country’s records on the management of the economic and professional potentials of women and girls.
The minister made the remarks on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Morocco.
During the conference that began on October 9, Khandouzi attended panel discussions and meetings with counterparts from other countries to shed light on Iran’s efforts and plans to improve the economic situation in the country despite being under a regime of American sanctions.
“On the HCI, we are among countries in the Middle East and in North Africa that have a noticeable position and (our) achievements in the fields of human capital is deliverable to other countries,” he said.
On Saturday, Khandouzi also met Pakistan’s Minister for Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Shamshad Akhtar in the Moroccan capital of Marrakech to discuss bilateral economic ties between Iran and Pakistan.
During the meeting, the Iranian minister urged an acceleration of efforts to launch barter trade between Iran and Pakistan, according to a report by Iran’s official IRNA news agency.
Khandouzi and Akhtar also discussed increased customs cooperation between Iran and Pakistan as well as opportunities for joint investment, said the report.
