Muslims rally in Netherlands to slam desecration of Holy Qur’an

Muslims in the Netherlands have staged a mass rally in condemnation of the recurring acts of desecration of the Holy Qur’an in Sweden and Denmark.

The protesters gathered on the main street of The Hague on Saturday evening to express their anger at the repeated desecration of the sacred Muslim book in the Nordic countries, according to a report by Iranpress.

The demonstrators, among them Dutch, Afghan, Iraqi, Pakistani, Turkish, and Iranian Muslims, gathered in front of the Swedish Embassy in The Hague while holding copies of the Holy Qur’an in their hands.

They were also holding signs that read, “The Qur’an gives us light to guide us, fire cannot burn the Sun.”

The protesters censured the Swedish and Danish governments for allowing such hostile acts against Muslims as they shouted, “Stop burning our book and holy books,” and “Shame on the Danish and Swedish governments!”

They also recited verses from the holy Muslim book during their demonstration in the western Dutch city.

At the end of their rally, the demonstrators called on the Dutch government to introduce a bill that enforces the protection of faiths and ensures the peaceful coexistence of religious and non-religious groups and individuals.

Over the past couple of months, various acts of sacrilege against the Holy Qur’an have taken place in Sweden and Denmark, even though the two countries have said they are exploring ways to legally limit such actions to de-escalate growing tensions with Muslim countries.

Denmark’s judiciary finally decided on Friday to ban the desecration of the Holy Qur’an following the negative impact of such moves, saying the bill will “prohibit the inappropriate treatment of objects of significant religious importance to a religious community.”

In the latest act of desecration of the sacred Muslim book in a neighboring Scandinavian country, a serial blasphemer burned a copy of the sacred Muslim book in front of the Iranian embassy in Stockholm.

Swedish police instead arrested a woman who tried to stop the perpetrator.

In Denmark too, the far-right Danish group Danske Patrioter has recently set copies of the Holy Qur’an alight in front of the missions of several Muslim countries in Copenhagen.

Such sacrilegious moves, which have been authorized by the Swedish police under the pretext of freedom of speech laws, have drawn the ire of the whole Muslim world, prompting the summoning or expulsion of Swedish and Danish envoys from several countries and putting the Scandinavian countries’ security forces on high alert over fears of reprisal.
