The chief commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has successfully guided the country through economic sanctions and seditions over the past four decades.

“With his smart and tactful management and guidance, Ayatollah Khamenei passed the Islamic Iran through the Nile River of sanctions, threats, economic pressure, great seditions and psychological warfare,” Major General Hossein Salami said at a meeting of the Supreme Assembly of IRGC commanders and officials on Saturday.

He also appreciated the Leader's standing against the arrogant powers and disappointing the enemies.

Ayatollah Khamenei, he added, strengthened the spirit of jihad (endeavor for the sake of God) among Muslims around the world.

‘Unlike resistance front, enemies in decline’

General Salami also emphasized that the enemies have been becoming weaker while Iran and the Axis of Resistance have been growing stronger over the past 45 years.

“Today, the US is declining more than ever, and the enemy is at the peak of its weakness,” he said. “Israel is also weaker than in 1967, while [the Lebanese resistance movement] Hezbollah is stronger with better and more up-to-date equipment and tools.”

“The Islamic Revolution and the Axis of Resistance have the upper hand against the US, the usurper Israel and its allies in the region. This has been achieved through the Leader’s wisdom and tactfulness, as well as the endeavor and perseverance of the Islamic Ummah.”

The IRGC chief commander also said Ayatollah Khamenei has put the US in “a strategic dead end,” arguing that the enemy knows that it will face a defeat both with and without anti-Iran sanctions.

Washington imposed harsh economic sanctions against Tehran in May 2018 after unilaterally withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In response to the US “maximum pressure” campaign, the Islamic Republic has pursued a policy of “maximum resistance” to overcome the impact of the illegal sanctions through self-reliance.

Elsewhere in his remarks, General Salami hailed the “brilliant performance” of the IRGC since it was founded in the aftermath of the Islamic Revolution of 1979.

He said the reason the IRGC is so strong is because “it sees the non-divine and Western powers as weak and unworthy.”

In relevant remarks on Thursday, Ayatollah Khamenei praised the IRGC as “the world’s biggest anti-terrorism organization” capable of carrying out tasks that many of the world's major militaries cannot accomplish.
