Africa Diaspora marks Emancipation Day

In the first segment of Africa Today this week, we are focusing on Emancipation Day, an important day in the history of Africans in the Diaspora. The first day of August is marked as Emancipation Day in many countries across the Caribbean and the Americas to commemorate the emancipation of slaves of African descent. In the second part of our program we are having a glimpse at Burkina Faso, a West African country that gained independence on the Fifth of August 1960.
