Israel Syria attack

Israel has carried out a new airstrike on areas in the vicinity of the Syrian capital, Damascus. Syrian media quoted a military source as saying the strikes came from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights, targeting some areas southwest of Damascus. The source said Syrian air defenses intercepted Israeli missiles, shooting down some of them. The attack led to the serious injury of a Syrian soldier and some material damage. Israel often carries out airstrikes on Syria. This is despite frequent demands by Damascus that the United Nations force the regime to stop the acts of aggression.

Black Sea grain deal

Russia says it is considering withdrawal from the Black Sea grain deal, citing the West’s failure to fulfill its obligations under the agreement. President Vladimir Putin says Moscow has been "once again cheated". He says nothing has been done in terms of resuming the supply of Russian grain to foreign markets. Putin says Western countries have not lived up to any of their responsibilities under the agreement. The deal allows Ukraine to resume seaborne grain exports. It was brokered by the United Nations and Turkey in July 2022 to help tackle a global food crisis. According to UN data, more than 31 million tonnes of mainly corn and wheat have so far been exported by Ukraine under the current deal, which is set to expire on the seventeenth of July.
