Israeli provocations

A large number of Israeli settlers backed by the regime’s forces have broken into al-Aqsa mosque’s compound to hold the so-called flag march. The settlers rallied through the compound and other parts of al-Quds’s old city to observe the event, which marks the regime’s capture of eastern al-Quds in 1967. Itamar Ben-Gvir, an extreme-right member of the Israeli cabinet, has also attended the rally. The occupation forces and settlers have attacked Palestinians in the old city. The Israeli police have also assaulted activists trying to prevent settlers from attending the flag march by blocking a road leading to al-Quds.

G7 baseless accusations

Iran has slammed a statement from G7 finance ministers after their meeting in Japan which accused Tehran of illicit financial activities. Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, Naser Kan’ani, called the accusations baseless and delusional. He said, G7 countries should end their support for US’ unilateral and illegal sanctions against Iran rather than using outdated methods to coerce international bodies to their will. The finance ministers of seven developed countries met in the Japanese city of Niigata ahead of a leaders’ summit in Hiroshima. The final statement of the three-day meeting also accused North Korea and Russia of illicit financial activities.

China envoy in Ukraine

China has called on all parties involved in the Russia-Ukraine war to try to facilitate peace talks. The remarks were made in a statement by the Chinese foreign ministry which has also cautioned all countries that the Ukraine conflict cannot benefit anyone. The statement was released after Beijing’s special envoy for Eurasian affairs wrapped up his two-day visit to Ukraine. Li Hui was the highest-ranking Chinese official to visit the country since the beginning of Russia’s military operation there. Li met with President Volodymyr Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials. His visit was part of a European tour to promote Beijing-led negotiations to resolve the Ukraine conflict.
