Palestinian resistance factions have warned the occupying Tel Aviv regime against “playing with fire” after Israeli forces broke into a prayer area in the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, saying such moves represent a failed attempt to change the Islamic identity of the holy city of al-Quds.

The groups announced in a joint statement on Tuesday that Israel is playing with fire with such actions, emphasizing that their members and advocates will increase their presence on the courtyards of al-Aqsa Mosque in order to thwart fiendish plots aimed at imposing the Israeli regime’s control over the sacred site, and subsequently creating temporal and spatial divisions there.

According to Palestinian news outlets, Israeli forces stormed the Bab al-Rahma prayer area on Saturday and inflicted great damage inside, as Muslim worshipers were celebrating the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The Israeli troops also assaulted Palestinian youths, who were on their way to perform the Eid prayers, beating them with sticks near the Lions’ Gate in occupied al-Quds.

Hamas and the Islamic Jihad resistance groups have condemned the Israeli acts of violence and vowed to defend their sanctities in the face of the regime’s assaults.

Elsewhere in their Tuesday statement, the Palestinian resistance groups strongly condemned Israeli officials for exercising the policy of deliberate medical negligence against Sheikh Khader Adnan, a high-profile official with the Gaza-based Islamic Jihad resistance movement who has been on hunger strike for more than 80 days in protest at his detention, and Walid Daqqa, who has been in Israeli prisons for 38 years.

They also argued that hoisting the Israeli flag over Ibrahimi Mosque in the southern West Bank city of al-Khalil constitutes a flagrant act of aggression and is part of Israel’s Judaization schemes.

Such moves, they said, will never manage to alter the Islamic and historical realities of sacred places in the occupied territories.

The resistance factions went on to commend the recent “heroic” car-ramming operation in al-Quds, saying that the retaliatory measure exposed the frailty of the Zionist entity in the face of the steadfast Palestinian nation, and proved the great ability of Palestinians to foil the regime’s conspiracies.

They also hit back at the reported activation of the Israeli regime’s assassination policy against Palestinian officials, saying such threats would not succeed to burnish its image which has been shattered by resistance fighters.

They emphasized that “the resistance’s response to any foolish act is greater and broader than what it expects.”
