Iran's President Ebrahim Raeisi has called for convergence and consensus among Muslim countries to support Palestine and condemn the Zionist regime’s acts of aggression against Palestinians.

“Convergence and consensus among Muslim countries in support of the issue of Palestine and condemnation of the Zionist regime’s acts of aggression, especially the savage measures of this regime at al-Aqsa Mosque and against Palestinian worshippers, is very important and necessary,” Iran's president said in a Monday phone call with Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.

Israeli forces have wounded and rounded up hundreds of Palestinians during the attacks that have seen a rise since the beginning of the fasting month of Ramadan. Illegal Israeli settlers have been freely violating the compound under the Israeli military and police force’s protection.

On April 6, at least 30 rockets were launched from southern Lebanon into the Israeli-occupied territories in retaliation for the Israeli aggression against al-Aqsa Mosque. Resistance fighters based in Gaza also fired several rockets toward the occupied territories.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Raeisi said Iran's foreign policy is based on the expansion and strengthening of relations with all countries, particularly Muslim nations.

The Iranian president expressed hope that Tehran and Dhaka would further promote cooperation, particularly in trade and economic fields.

The Bangladeshi premier, for her part, censured Israel's criminal acts against the fasting Palestinian people and said support for the oppressed Palestinian nation and condemnation of the Tel Aviv regime's brutality are among her country's unwavering stance.

Earlier in a phone call with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday, President Raeisi called on Muslim countries to form a united front in order to stop the Zionist regime's criminal acts against Palestinians.
