Iranians have held vigils in mosques and holy places to mark “Laylatol Qadr" also referred to as "the night of destiny".. This is a time when, Muslims believe, the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Gisoo Misha Ahmadi has traveled to the Holy city of Mashhad, to Imam Reza's shrine, where the largest mass prayers are held in Iran.

Hands raised to the sky in prayer ... Asking for forgiveness with a repentant heart ... This is how millions of Iranians have spent a third Laylatol Qadr ... A night worth more than 1000 months...

Muslims have been recommended to spend this occasion praying for forgiveness. Traditionally they gather in mosques and holy sites such as Imam Reza's Holy Shrine. Of course we don't know which night exactly is "Laylatol Qadr" that's why we hold mass prayers on three different nights.

Imam Reza's holy shrine in the northeastern city of Mashhad hosts the largest gatherings for the mass prayers. Pilgrims flock to the holy shrine from different cities to spend this night in one of the holiest places in Iran.

The exact date of Laylatol Qadr is uncertain. That is why the last ten days of the Holy month of Ramadan are very special for Muslims worldwide.

Laylatol Qaqr prayers are among the largest religious gatherings in Iran. In Imam Reza's Holy shrine more than two million people take part in the ceremony.
