Clashes erupted between Palestinians and Israeli forces when the occupation force’s elite troops attacked worshippers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied al Quds; hundreds were injured and arrested.

A dozen Palestinians were also injured during further clashes on Wednesday morning.

The clashes erupted after Israeli forces attacked the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Dozens of heavily armed Israeli soldiers stormed the compound firing tear gas and stun grenades into the prayer hall where hundreds of men, women, elderly people, and, children, were staying overnight to pray.

In the yard to the eastern parts of the compound, the police were firing tear gas and stun grenades. It was a scene that I can't describe.

Then they stormed in and started beating everyone, they detain people and they put the young men on their faces to the ground. They also beat them while in detention.

Some eyewitnesses said rubber coated steel bullets were also fired. Israeli officers then beat worshipers with batons and riot guns, wounding many, before arresting them.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said it had received multiple reports of injuries at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Local media outlets said dozens were wounded and injuries have included bruises, fractures and breathlessness from inhaling tear gas.

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees Affairs estimates that hundreds of people have been arrested.

In response to the Israeli aggression against Islam's third holiest site, Palestinian resistance fighters launched several rockets towards the occupied territories triggering rocket warning sirens were triggered in several Israeli urban centers; Israel carried out missile attacks on the Gaza Strip as well.

The crackdown on Palestinians by Tel Aviv has triggered a wave of condemnation.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has denounced the assault as part of Tel Aviv's war against Palestinian sanctities.

What happened in Al-Aqsa mosque, the Israeli forces assault on the worshipers, is a crime and a violation of all human rights and laws.

And the occupation should be held responsible for it and for its repercussions, because our people will not let this pass without a response to the terrorizing of the worshippers, worshipers who are safe in the house of God.

The strike on Gaza this morning is an attempt to prevent Gaza from uniting with our people in Al Quds, and will remain to function as a shield to our people in Al Quds and the Al Aqsa mosque.

Ziad Al-Nakhala, Secretary General of the Islamic Jihad movement echoed a similar message.

The events at the Al Aqsa mosque are a threat to our sacred places of worship and the Palestinian people must be prepared for the imminent decisive confrontation with Israel.

Iran also condemned the attack in the strongest terms, urging an immediate reaction from the Muslim world and relevant international bodies.

Arab countries, including Qatar, also condemned the attack. Saudi Arabia dismissed the raid as a blatant intrusion, Egypt decried it as a reprehensible act, and Jordan has called for an end to such attacks, saying Israel will be responsible for the consequences.

The Arab League has also urged an end to the extremist approaches that control the policy of the Israeli regime, which it is believed will lead to widespread confrontation with Palestinians.

Jordan rejects and condemns any Israeli steps that would affect the sanctity of the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque and stresses its unwavering demands to stop all measures aimed at changing the historical and legal status of the city of Jerusalem and its sanctities.

Violence against Palestinians has surged since Netanyahu came to power in December 2022.

Incidences of Israeli settler incursions into the Al Aqsa Mosque have recently been on the rise as the settlers have become emboldened by the arrival of a new extreme far right regime led by Netanyahu.

Such mass settler incursions almost always take place at the behest of the Tel Aviv based temple groups, and under the auspices of the Israeli police in Al-Quds, inevitably leading to daily confrontations with Palestinians at the mosque with many injured, arrested, and, killed.

Israeli settlers have renewed their calls to be allowed to perform animal slaughter at the Al Aqsa Mosque compound to mark a Jewish holiday, despite widespread opposition from the Muslim community, and potential backlash from Palestinians.

The Al Aqsa mosque is the third holiest site in Islam, where it is forbidden to perform non Muslim prayers or rituals based on long standing international agreements.
