Leader's new year speech

The Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution says the country has surpassed many advanced states in various fields despite facing the harshest economic pressures. During his New Year speech, the leader added that these achievements are made in face of the enemies’ all-out efforts to change the very nature of the Islamic Republic. Ayatollah Khamenei said the enemy is waging a hybrid war to polarize the nation in order to turn the Islamic Republic into an establishment that only follows dictates of the global arrogance. He also touched on the recent riots in the country, saying the west, including the US and its allies clearly backed the riots in different ways to undermine the Islamic establishment. However, the leader noted, the Iranian nation gave them a great slap in the face. Ayatollah Khamenei also hailed the nations's resistance and steadfastness in standing against the enemy’s plots aimed at spreading Iranophobia.

Russia-Ukraine war

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has censured Britain’s move to send ammunition with depleted uranium to Ukraine. Putin warned London that Moscow would be forced to respond accordingly. This as Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the British decision may lead to a quote "nuclear collision between Russia and the West". Britain is sending Ukraine Challenger-2 tanks whose ammunition contains depleted uranium. The substance is used in weapons because it can penetrate tanks and armor more easily due to its density and other physical properties.

Los Angeles schools strike

Los Angeles school employees have begun a three-day strike, forcing hundreds of campuses to close and cancelling classes for nearly five hundred thousand children. The walk-out started as negotiations for an offered pay-raise collapsed. Los Angeles Unified School District officials said they have offered a 23 percent increase, along with a three percent quote "cash-in-hand bonus". The union is demanding a 30 percent raise, with an additional boost for the lowest-paid workers. Many Los Angeles employees make little more than the minimum wage. They struggle to afford the cost of living in Southern California.
