Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called for better marketing and exports practices for products manufactured inside Iran, saying it can help boost economic growth and job creation in the country.
Addressing a gathering of domestic manufacturers and entrepreneurs on Monday, Ayatollah Khamanei said Iranian exporters should be proud of “made in Iran” labels on home-made products as he insisted that goods manufactured inside Iran are competitive in global markets because of their quality and price.
“You have to think of a solution that prevents others from forcing you to manufacture Iranian-made products under another country’s name. Put the made in Iran label on the products and don’t even label them in English, write ساخت ایران , in Farsi letters,” said Ayatollah Khamenei.
The Leader made the comments in line with a government campaign to encourage increased manufacturing activity in Iran as a way of diversifying the economy away from oil revenues.
Iran has reported successive periods of growth in its manufacturing sector since the country’s oil exports came under American sanctions in 2018.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that Iran has to do more to boost its manufacturing exports as it seeks to earn more hard currency revenues and to create more jobs for its youth population.
“We have to take measures to make Iranian goods globally competitive when it comes to exports. It means that we have to improve the quality of the final product while reducing its cost price. It is urgently necessary to perform this task,” he said.
