World Cup 2022: Croatia beat Morocco 2-1 to clinch 3rd place

Croatia have earned their 3rd top-three finish at the FIFA World Cup, with a hard-fought victory over Morocco at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.

The 2018 finalists took the lead after just seven minutes, through a diving header from Josko Gvardiol, after Ivan Perisic headed a set piece into the area. This only lasted two minutes, as Achraf Dari headed home from close range, after Hakim Ziyech's free kick was inadvertently flicked over the defense by Luka Modric.

However, three minutes before the interval, the entertaining bronze medal encounter was decided, when Mislav Orsic curled a wonderful effort over Yassine Bono, off the post and into the back of the net.

Croatia went on to control the second half and confirm their status as one of the elite footballing nations, with another third-place finish to go alongside their first in their competition debut back in 1998.
