Protesters condemn campaign to remove Iran from UN women’s commission

The streets in front of the United Nations office in Tehran once again became the scene of peaceful protests. This time a group of Iranian activists and students gathered to condemn an attempt by several Western governments to remove Iran from the Commission on the Status of Women or CSW, over what they call the Iranian government's violations of women's rights and crackdown on protests.

The protesters’ main concern is the fact that western diplomats and rights activists have attempted to remove Iran from the CSW while international institutions have been pursuing a contradictory approach on women’s rights for years and women have time and again fallen victim to political schemes.

The protesters gathered here to say that they are the true face of Iranian women and to demand the United Nations to remain impartial despite pressure from certain countries.
