A “Red Wave” That Fizzled

Midterm elections are over! Americans have spoken. But what did they say? Well in a nutshell, the Republicans seem to have a razor-thin majority in the House while Democrats kept the control of the Senate.

But there were many other issues on the ballot as well: democracy itself as President Joe Biden said, economy, a perceived referendum on Biden, and election deniers supported by Trump among others. And what did the voters say about those issues?

In this episode we’re going to take a closer look at the midterm elections and their results. Before the vote, the Republicans were like “we will paint the town red; it’s going to be a red tsunami.” But as the results came in, it seemed more like a pink splash honestly! The Democrats were said to expect a knock-out punch. But it was rather like a slap in the wrist. If this was a referendum on President Joe Biden, well he didn’t do too badly after all. Still, he has a hard time running the country his way in the next two years with a big chunk of the Congress against him. So, what are the key takeaways from the midterms?
