Iranians have held nationwide rallies to condemn the Wednesday terrorist attack in the southern city of Shiraz. The protesters took to the streets in different cities following Friday prayers. They chanted slogans and held banners, calling for the perpetrators and their backers to be brought to justice.

At least 13 people, including two children, were killed after a gunman opened fire on pilgrims at the Shah Cheragh holy shrine in Shiraz. 26 others were wounded. The Daesh terror group claimed responsibility shortly after the attack.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called on security agencies, the Judiciary, intellectuals, activists, and the entire nation to act in unison to confront the current which is disregarding and disrespecting people’s lives, security, and sanctities.

Meanwhile, Iran’s President Ebrahim Raeisi has also vowed that the Islamic Republic would deliver a crushing response to those who were behind the bloodshed.

These protesters have called on Iranian authorities to prosecute the main culprits behind the heinous terrorist attack in Shiraz and take all necessary measures to maintain security in the country as soon as possible.
