Biden sees Democratic win tied to a recovery no one else recognizes

US President Joe Biden alongside the Easter Bunny, participates in the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, DC on April 18, 2022. Clips of the Easter Bunny interrupting Biden during the event have become viral.

US President Joe Biden has predicted a final hour shift in favor of the Democrats in the midterm elections, seeing it tied to a an economic recovery few others have noticed.

"It's been back and forth, with them ahead, us ahead, them ahead, back and forth," Biden told reporters at the White House, three weeks before elections deciding control of Congress.

"Polls have been all over the place. I think we're going to see one more shift back to our side in the closing days," Biden said.

Recent polls show momentum rising on the Republican side, with voters increasingly anxious about high inflation and likely to punish the Democrats.

The CNBC All-America Economic Survey, published on Thursday, found that 42 percent of respondents believe that the Republican Party is better suited to handle the issue of inflation, while 27 percent of those surveyed said that Democrats can deal with the issue better, The Hill reported.

Forty percent of respondents said Republicans can address the issue of taxes better than their Democrat counterparts, while 29 percent of respondents think otherwise.

Thirty-six percent of those surveyed believe that the Republican Party can better deal with the issue of reducing the federal deficit in the country, while 25 percent of respondents think that Democrats can address the issue better, according to the poll.

Forty-three percent of respondents said Republicans are better suited to address the issue of job growth, while 33 percent of respondents think otherwise.

The poll comes weeks ahead of November’s midterm elections which Republicans are confident to win and gain majority control of the House and Senate chambers.

Voters are concerned about inflation, the economy, job growth, and fears of going through another recession.

Other polls also show that the Democratic Party has lost significant momentum.

Biden's party currently has a very thin majority in Congress but Republican leaders say they will block his legislation if they take over the legislature.

In a fiery speech predicting that the Republicans would "crash the economy" if they took control of Congress, Biden said on Friday voters were starting to see "some good news in the economy" and would return to supporting Democrats in time for voting day November 8.

Biden pointed out falling gasoline prices, low unemployment across most of the country, and Friday's news of "the largest ever decline in the federal deficit."

The deficit reduction is "further proof that we're rebuilding the economy in a responsible way," he said.

He claimed that Republicans will eliminate the minimum tax rate for big corporations and "double down" on tax cuts for the most wealthy.

Record inflation, long-term recession, a costly, hard-line approach to the unrest in Ukraine, dissatisfaction with the results of the so-called “Blue Wave” of 2020 - many are trying to pinpoint the reason for the recent drop for Democrats.

The new surveys confirm the dip in Democratic support. US President Joe Biden has become so unpopular that he would now lose to Donald Trump in a head-to-head matchup; 2/3rds of the country thinks America is on the wrong track, almost a record high; the turnout rate of Republican voters is polling to run 4 points higher than the turnout by perhaps-disillusioned Democratic voters.

"I think Biden remembers that the Easter Bunny rescued him once, and he's hoping it will happen again in November," New York-based journalist Don DeBar told Press TV on Friday.

On April 18, 2022, the Easter Bunny was seen moving a “confused” Biden along after he “wandered off” to answer questions and take selfies with kids at the White House’s Easter Egg Roll.

Biden began discussing Pakistan and Afghanistan with people gathered there before the bunny was seen ushering him away in a video.

Former California House candidate Buzz Patterson commented on the video: “Some staffer in a bunny outfit interrupts the most important person in the world. Only in Biden’s America”.

“The Easter Bunny retrieves Joe Biden after he wanders off to talk to some children,” wrote Charlie Spiering.

Other users on Twitter pointed out how “confused” the president looked and joked the bunny was his new “handler”.
