People have taken to the streets in the Gaza Strip to voice support for Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike in Israeli jails. Thirty prisoners have been on hunger strike for two weeks to protest their administrative detention.

The protest was organized by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Palestinian prisoners are held in 24 Israeli prisons and detention centers where they are denied basic human rights. Protesters shouted slogans against the Israeli regime and expressed their unwavering support for the prisoners.

Some five thousand Palestinians are currently languishing in Israeli jails, including minors and women. Palestinian prisoners frequently stage hunger strikes in protest against both the administrative detention policy and harsh prison conditions.

The Israeli regime violates all the rights and freedoms granted to prisoners by the Fourth Geneva Convention. Palestinians are calling on the international community to come out of its silence and help Palestinian prisoners.

Statistics show that Israeli forces have arrested more than one million Palestinians since 1967. According to prisoners' advocacy groups, the Israeli regime is holding more than seven hundred Palestinians behind bars without charge or trial.
