COMSTECH awards two Iranian researchers

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation Standing Committee on Scientific and Cooperation (COMSTECH) of the OIC has awarded two Iranian scholars as the winners of COMSTECH; Lifetime Achievement Award in Chemistry 2021 and COMSTECH Award for Best Scientific Book.
Ali Mousavi-Movahedi of the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics from the University of Tehran won COMSTECH Lifetime Achievement Award in Chemistry 2021 and Esmael Ghavanloo as Associate Professor of Shiraz University of Iran has won COMSTECH Award for Best Scientific Book.
COMSTECH awards are conferred biennially in ‘Basic Sciences’ and in ‘Excellence in Science and Technology’ to recognize the outstanding research work carried out by scientists who are citizens of or working in OIC member states.
COMSTECH, the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the OIC was established by the Third Islamic Summit of OIC held at Makkah, Saudi Arabia, in January 1981.
According to global reports, Iran ranks 15th in the world in terms of science production. The most important research areas of Iran for production of science have been medicine, engineering and materials science respectively.
