Tehran has organized the fourth edition of its international conference on American human rights. The conference was attended by Iranian officials, experts and the youth from over 50 countries. The event was held on the occasion of the American Human Rights week in Iran.

The event reviewed the human rights situation worldwide and its challenges as a result of the United States double standard policies.

Addressing the event, secretary of Iran's High Council for Human Rights Kazem Gharibabadi said the US is in no position to talk about human rights given its widespread violations.

Iranian officials and experts believe that the gravest violation that can be committed against human rights is to politicize the issue and this is exactly what the US has done. A senior Iranian diplomat says human rights are turned into a pretext and a tool for the expansion and institutionalization of the predominance of American unilateralism.

Analysts believe that the unilateral US sanctions are a means of collective punishment of people without any exception.

Here in Iran people believe that the American Human rights week is to condemn Washington’s double standard policies with regard to human rights and reveal this very reality to the world.
