Hamas: Palestinians’ resilience will never die down
The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas reiterates that Israel’s violations at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied Old City of al-Quds will meet with beefed-up resilience on the part of the Palestinians.
In a statement released on Monday, Hamas said “the Palestinian people would achieve victory and have the upper hand in their battle to defend the Muslim nation’s honor and first Qiblah [al-Aqsa Mosque].”
The resistance movement said the resilient people across the occupied West Bank and the 1948 occupied Palestine “will continue their rallying, resistance and struggle” to defend the al-Aqsa Mosque.
In a fresh round of violence, Israeli soldiers forced their way into the sacred site on Monday morning and removed worshipers from its courtyards in order to allow settlers into the compound. They restricted the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the flash point to secure the incursion of hundreds of extremist settlers to mark the Passover holiday.
The forces imposed a siege on prayer halls, as snipers climbed on the roofs of the mosque and the adjacent buildings.
Israeli forces prevented people under the age of 25 from entering the mosque and closed the area near al-Wad Street in the Old City as settlers stormed the mosque.
The Israeli regime has stepped up its deadly acts of aggression across the Palestinian territories since the beginning of Ramadan.
The most recent episode of violence began at dawn on Friday, when the occupying forces raided the mosque through the Moroccan Gate, also known as the Mughrabi Gate, firing sound bombs and rubber bullets at the worshipers randomly. The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRSC) reported that over 150 fasting Palestinians had been transferred to hospitals.
Dozens of Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since March 22. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has already given Israeli forces a free hand to “defeat” what he called “terror” in the occupied West Bank. Hamas has condemned the recent killings across the West Bank. It says the appalling nature of the Tel Aviv regime has once again come to the fore.
