Canada's indigenous meets the Pope

Canada’s indigenous people have met Pope Francis in the Vatican, asking for an apology for the abuse and death of children in schools run by the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church administered over 60 percent of government-funded residential schools in Canada between the 1830s and the 1990s. Francis has previously expressed at the scandal but fell short of offering a formal apology.
