Australian Open: Medvedev defeats Cressy, reaches quarters

Daniil Medvedev has progressed to the quarter-finals, after beating America’s Maxime Cressy 3 sets to 1 in the Australian Open.

The World No. 2 dominated the opening set, after taking it 6-3. The Russian faced resistance by Cressy, but managed to finish the 2nd set in a tie-break. The American remained consistent and surprisingly took the 3rd set 7-6. But, last season’s finalist found his rhythm and beat the American 7-5, to set up a quarter-finals encounter against Canada’s Felix Auger Aliassime, after 3 hours and 30 minutes.
