Restraining order for AOC against Greene discussed by top Democrats in Congress

GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

Senior Democratic lawmakers in the US Congress have discussed the possibility and legality of a filling by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez which seeks a restraining order against GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene over her verbal attacks.

According to a report by Politico published on Tuesday, the Democrats believe that Ocasio-Cortez would likely need to seek the restraining order herself.

Greene has repeatedly targeted Ocasio-Cortez over the past few years. Her first confrontation with AOC actually goes back before she was elected to Congress last year.

Also On May 12, according to two Washington Post reporters who witnessed the incident, Greene chased AOC down a hallway in Congress and accused her of supporting terrorists and "radical socialism,".

In 2019, Greene and several of her associates taunted Ocasio-Cortez's staffers and vandalized the congresswoman's guest book outside her Capitol office.

"You don't care about the American people," Greene shouted at Ocasio-Cortez. "Why do you support terrorists and antifa?"

After the incident, Ocasio-Cortez asked the congressional leaders to "take real steps to make Congress a safe, civil place."

Greene is a known conspiracy theorist and QAnon supporter who is serving as the Republican representative for Georgia's 14th congressional district since early January. The staunch Trump’s fan has also a long history of supporting violence against the Democrats.

In February, House Democrats, along with about a dozen Republicans, voted to strip Greene of her seats on the Budget and the Education and Labor committees in response to her endorsements of political violence as well as her suggestions that school shootings and the 9/11 terrorist attacks were staged.

But, many Democrats like Rep. Jimmy Gomez are seeking to remove Greene from Congress altogether.
