Houthi: Saudis open airspace to Israeli flights, maintain aerial blockade on Yemen

The leader of Yemen’s popular Ansarullah resistance movement has lambasted Saudi Arabia for allowing Israeli flights to cross over its airspace while traveling to or from the United Arab Emirates, arguing that the controversial measure comes as the Riyadh regime has maintained a tight all-out blockade on war-torn Yemen.

“While Saudi Arabia maintains a blockade on Yemen’s airspace, the Riyadh regime opened the skies of the holy cities of Mecca and Medina for the Israeli prime minister (Naftali Bennett) to fly to the UAE,” Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said at a meeting with several visiting Yemeni tribal delegations in the capital Sana’a on Sunday evening.

The Israeli prime minister met the UAE’s de facto ruler on December 13. He became the first leader of the Israeli regime to visit the Persian Gulf state, more than a year after the two sides agreed to establish formal relations.

Bennett had a meeting with Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) at his private palace following his arrival in the Emirati capital the night before.

The UAE was the first of four Arab countries which agreed to normalize ties with Israel under US-brokered deals in 2020.

Palestinians, who seek an independent state in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip with East al-Quds as its capital, view the deals as a stab in their back.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Houthi praised meetings among Yemeni tribes and said such gatherings will help cement relations among all strata of the society in the face of the Saudi war.

He underlined that fraternity and understanding among Yemeni people should be promoted and those who pursue divisive plots must be avoided and disregarded.

‘Fate of Yemen, Syria is triumph over foreign plots’

Yemen’s Ambassador to Damascus Abdullah Ali Sabri said those waging a devastating military onslaught against his homeland are the same parties that propped up Takfiri terrorist groups inside Syria.

He stated that the two crisis-hit Arab countries have no option but to defeat terrorists and emerge victorious over foreign conspiracies.

Sabri went on to say that the sufferings of the Yemeni and Syrian nations are the fallout of foreign interference and attempts to create divisions within them in order to advance US-Israeli scenarios in the Middle East.

The Yemeni ambassador highlighted that the two Arab nations are fiercely resisting the plots, noting that the Saudi war on Yemen is meant to control the country’s strategic position, plunder its natural resources, undermine its sovereignty and independence, and prevent national unity there.

Sabri stressed that Yemen has always stood against occupiers and will ultimately turn into the graveyard of the aggressors.

Saudi Arabia, backed by the United States and regional allies, launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power and crushing the Ansarullah movement.

The war has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead, and displaced millions more. It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases there, deepening the world’s worst humanitarian crisis day by day.

Despite heavily-armed Saudi Arabia’s incessant bombardment of the impoverished country, the Yemeni armed forces and the Popular Committees have grown steadily in strength against the Saudi invaders and left Riyadh and its allies bogged down in the country.
