NBA: Golden State Warriors 105-96 New York Knicks
Over the basketball news, The Golden State Warriors have overcome the New York Knicks 105-96, with shooting machine Stephen Curry passing Ray Allen as the NBA’s all-time 3-point leader.
Curry needed only two long-distance shots to break Allen’s record, and got it over with early in the first quarter, receiving a big cheer from the spectators at Madison Square Garden, including Allen himself.
The Warriors were down by a point at intermission, but pulled away in the third quarter for a 7-point advantage. The two-time MVP and his team continued with their offensive efforts, and beat the hosts 105-96. Golden State will visit Boston on Friday, whereas the New Yorkers will fly to Houston, on Thursday.
In the meantime, The Toronto Raptors have fallen to a narrow defeat of 131-129 against the Brooklyn Nets, in overtime.
Following a very close first quarter, Toronto were trailing by 10 points by halftime. However, they outscored Brooklyn 44-25 to enter the closing quarter with a 2-point advantage. The Raptors seemed to be the winners of the night, until a three by Patty Mills in the last 13 seconds forced overtime.
Kevin Durant led the Nets to an eventual 131-129 victory in OT, making it the third consecutive win for the Eastern conference leaders. Durant finished with a monstrous triple-double of 34 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.
Meanwhile, Scottie Barnes was the highest-scoring Raptor, with 23 points. Up next, Brooklyn will go on to host Philadelphia on Thursday. Toronto, on the other hand, will play host to Golden State, on Saturday.
