Conference on Syrian refugees’ return

Syrian and Russian high ranking officials have held a follow up conference in Damascus on refugees' return, discussing measures taken by both countries in the past years for encouraging Syrians who left the war torn country to safely return back.
The joint conference of Syrian and Russian committees formed last year on Syrian refugees return was held in Damascus. Syria’s minister of local administration said amnesty decrees and investment law issued by Syria proves the government’s genuine desire for refugees to come back. Officials said hundreds of thousands of refugees returned in the past years.
Syrian foreign ministry officials asserted that the government continues to repair the infrastructure and restore basic services to areas liberated by the Syrian government from terror, noting to some obstacles in the face of refugees such as US and Turkish occupation of Syrian soil, support to terror groups and looting natural resources.
Russian president’s special envoy told Press TV that the West started to realize they should shift their policy towards Syrians’ repatriation.
Eleven agreements and one contract have been prepared to be signed between Syria and Russia in the fields of education, medicine, culture, science and industry.
The gradual restoration of relations between Syria and the Arab world as well as the enhancement of economic ties with the country’s neighbors constitute a spark of hope for all Syrian refugees that their homeland started its journey of recovery from war, a fact that represents a solid encouragement for their return.
