COVID-19 cases spike across Europe

Europe’s vaccine rollout got off to a rocky start at the end of 2020 and now, almost a year later, even distribution across the block has not been achieved.
While some countries are still struggling to give everyone a first and second dose, others are rolling out booster jabs.
In Romania, only 30 percent of the population is vaccinated. Now in the grip of its most deadly wave with all intensive care beds full, and patients are being turned away.
In Germany, 65 percent of the population are double jabbed, but some regions are going into lockdown and those refusing the jab are being barred from indoor spaces.
In Britain, 67% of the population is double jabbed and eight million people have received booster jabs. Nonetheless, with social distancing law scrapped numbers are skyrocketing.
And of course the blame game is in full swing. Governments are slamming vaccine hesitancy and lax social distancing, while citizens across Europe say they just do not trust the people in charge. The very same leaders promised poorer nations their fair share of vaccines as well, but have not delivered!
The World Health Organization has slammed the likes of Britain and Israel for rolling out booster shots, while the majority of poor countries have not even vaccinated their most vulnerable.
Vaccine apartheid is to no one’s benefit. It undermines a global recovery and allows more virulent virus variants to appear.
Scientists warn waning immunity from vaccinations could mean many more people across Europe getting sick and dying this winter.
