AFC World Cup Qualifiers: Iran 1-1 S Korea

Team Iran have missed a flurry of chances to settle for 1-all draw with South Korea in a Group A match-up of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in Asia in Tehran.

Having missed two fantastic chances late in the first half, through Sardar Azmoun and Mehdi Taremi, Team Iran conceded the opener three minutes into the 2nd half, when Son Heung-min netted from 20 yards out, on a fast counter attack.

Saied Ezzatollahi rattled the wood-work in the 68th minute, as Iran were pushing for an equalizer. And it finally came with 14 minutes left, when Azmoun delivered a lofted cross for Alireza Jahan-Bakhsh, to power a terrific header into the net.

Taremi could have put Team Melli 2-1 up three minutes later, only to be denied by the wood-work. With the draw Iran remain at the top of Group A on 10 points, two clear of South Korea.
