After taking power, the Taliban leaders reached to the Shia community seeking their support and allegiance. The Taliban officials say their government will include all Afghans and social justice will be protected.

The Shia Ulema Council at a press conference on August 24, urged the Taliban to ensure that they will treat all faiths and ethnicities with equality and justice.

During weeks under the Taliban rule, many people from the Shia community have reportedly been displaced in Daikundi and some were massacred by the Taliban in Ghazni and Daykundi, Amnesty International confirms. At the same time, the Daesh still takes lives from the community. Nearly 300 Shia worshipers were killed and wounded in Kunduz blast on Friday. Following this tragic event, Shia clerics council in Afghanistan once again urged the Taliban to investigate the deadly attack and take massacre of Shias seriously as well as called for unity among all Muslims.

After taking power, the Taliban promised the formation of an inclusive government and providing a safe ground for all Afghans. But the Shia community is concerned that the threat of the Daesh terrorist group is being ignored by the Taliban.
