In the FIFA Futsal World Cup, Iran have opened their campaign with a 3-2 win over Serbia in Group F.
Iran raced to a 2-0 lead within the first five minutes, as Hamid Ahmadi and Farhad Fakhim scored 70 seconds apart. Serbia's hard work finally paid off with 2 minutes left in the first half when Milos Stojkovic pulled one back with a simple tap-in.
The gap remained unchanged for much of the 2nd half as, neither team could find a break-through until Ahmad Esmaeil-pour added a 3rd, 3 minutes from time, before the Serbs reduced the deficit for the 3-2 final score. Iran will now aim to make it two wins in a row, when they play the United States on Friday.
