Those fomenting insecurity, instability in region must leave: Leader's advisor

A senior advisor to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says those parties who are fomenting insecurity and instability in the region must leave.

"Those who are behind instability and insecurity in the region must leave," Ali Akbar Velayati said in a meeting with Ziyad al-Nakhalah, leader of the Islamic Jihad, a Palestinian resistance group based in the Gaza Strip, in Tehran on Sunday.

Velayati hailed the recent victories of the resistance front and resistance groups in the face of the Israeli aggression, saying, "In view of the recent victories [gained by the resistance front against Israel], there is no doubt that valuable developments are in the offing in favor of the resistance front."

He added, "The path of resistance and struggle has led to impressive and indescribable achievements and has brought numerous victories and triumphs to the oppressed nation of Palestine and the region."

The senior Iranian official expressed confidence that the resistance front would continue its path with dignity and honor.

Nakhalah, for his part, said the Islamic Republic has always supported the resistance front and the Palestinian cause, adding that the resistance front, in general, and the Islamic Jihad, in particular, have become stronger than any time before and are demonstrating their power now.

The resistance group's leader thanked Iran’s stance in support of the Palestinian cause and said the Islamic Jihad and the oppressed people of Palestine and Gaza humiliated Israel with bravery.

Tel Aviv launched a brutal bombing campaign against the besieged Gaza Strip on May 10, following Palestinian retaliation against violent raids on worshipers at al-Aqsa Mosque and the regime’s plans to force a number of Palestinian families out of their homes at the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East al-Quds.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, 260 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli offensive, including 66 children and 40 women. At least 1,948 others were also wounded.

In response, Palestinian resistance movements, chief among them Hamas, launched Operation al-Quds Sword and fired more than 4,000 rockets and missiles into the occupied territories, killing 12 Israelis.

Apparently caught off guard by the unprecedented barrage of rockets from Gaza, Israel announced a unilateral ceasefire on May 21, which Palestinian resistance movements accepted with Egyptian mediation.
