Analyst: Fauci possibly played part in inflicting coronavirus upon humanity

Dr. Anthony Fauci is trying to weasel out of the possibility that he might have played a part in inflicting the coronavirus pandemic upon humanity, according to American journalist and political commentator Helen Buyniski.

Fauci must be held accountable for his misdeeds, Buyniski said in an interview with Press TV on Saturday.

Fauci, US President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser, has called on Beijing to release the information of the three researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology who were sick around November 2019 and had to be hospitalized.

The Financial Times reported on Friday that in addition to the researchers, six miners got sick in 2012 after entering a bat cave that Wuhan scientists took samples from. Three of the miners had died.

Fauci, the director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, reportedly wants a full inquiry into China's alleged connection with the COVID-19, saying he is “not convinced” the coronavirus is natural.

Commenting on this, Buyniski said, “Operating under the rubric of ‘better late than never,’ Fauci seems to hope they will turn out to not only have been sick with Covid-19, but that the chronology of their illnesses will further confuse an already-scrambled viral timeline, giving Fauci a chance to further tweak the story on how the new virus was supposedly transferred to humans via the virology lab his National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases helped fund deadly gain-of-function research for in Wuhan, China.”

“Last month’s 180-degree flip-flop regarding the cause of the epidemic saw Fauci declare he was no longer convinced the coronavirus had emerged from nature - a rational claim that nevertheless came off as too little, too late given how much energy the diminutive doctor had spent the preceding year on blaming Chinese wet markets and dismissing those who disagreed - including his boss, President Trump - as conspiracy theorists,” she added.

“But this latest demand from Fauci appears little more than mere foot-dragging. With the meager evidence trail presented by the three Chinese researchers - all of whom recovered from their illness, which may or may not have even been Covid-19 - having long since grown cold, Fauci appears to believe he can rely on plausible deniability and misdirection alone in order to avoid being held accountable for his misdeeds,” she said.

“The doctor has already come under attack for keeping quiet his decision to roll back his agency’s ban on the gain-of-function research believed to have led to the lab creation of SARS-Cov-2 - without informing then-incoming President Donald Trump’s staff of either the danger of resuming such work or the fact that he was bringing that work back to the US to begin with,” she explained.

The journalist went on to say that “Fauci’s questions regarding the sick lab workers are clearly meant to distract and obfuscate.”

“‘Did [the three lab workers who fell ill in November 2019] really get sick, and if so, what did they get sick with?’ he asks, upping the ridicule factor by asking about six miners who fell ill in a cave full of bats a decade ago - insisting on knowing what was written in the medical records of three ordinary miners who’d died of unknown causes and three others who’d merely got sick in the cave where bat scientists had also taken samples - in 2012,” she noted.

“Fauci, in an email from that same year, claimed to have weighed the benefits against the risks regarding gain-of-function research on potentially deadly bat coronaviruses and insisted that ‘it was more likely that a pandemic would occur in nature’ than break out of a lab - an opinion one assumes he held onto five years later, when he broke protocol to bring that research back home. However, that’s no excuse for not listening to numerous colleagues and government officials who had ordered the work sent overseas in the first place,” she stated.

“The doctor’s moves amid the pandemic have been reckless at best, homicidal at worst,” she observed.

“This latest move - demanding the health information of three Chinese researchers whom he had until last month completely absolved from any involvement in unleashing Covid-19 upon humanity by insisting zoonotic transmission was the only possibility in the virus’ spread - is frankly insulting,” she said.

“The doctor’s hair-splitting and smug bloviating constitute a slap in the face to the American and Chinese people alike, a ‘droplet’ of spit in the eye of the hundreds of thousands of people who’ve died with the disease this careless character helped bring to life. As this iatrogenic imp tries to weasel out of the possibility that he did indeed play a part in inflicting a once-benign bat coronavirus upon humanity, it’s clear he is merely closing the barn door while the horses have long since galloped away,” the commentator concluded.
