Fajr Film Festival screens international films

After a long COVID-driven delay, Iran's major cinematic event, dubbed Fajr Intl. Film Festival, is back on track. Every year, the event screens productions from West Asia, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Anatolia among other regions.
Last year, the coronavirus pandemic cancelled the 2020 edition. And this year, participating filmmakers have not attended the festival physically.
Organized by Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Fajr Film Festival pays a special attention to productions that promote freedom, justice and moral values based on the teachings of the prophets.
While it features productions by renowned filmmakers, it also offers a chance for newbies to step up their game. Aside from screening selected productions from a diverse cross section of nationalities, the international event provides an opportunity for the acquisition and sales of film rights and co-production projects.
The event opened its doors on May 21 and will close with an awards ceremony on June 2. With all the health protocols in place, Fajr Intl. Film Festival was held against all odds.
This is to keep the bonds between filmmakers from different nationalities, as organizers believe this will promote international collaboration and will elevate the standards of filmmaking to suit the taste of a wider audience.
