Sri Lanka battles waves of plastic waste from burning ship

Tonnes of plastic pellets from a burning container ship swamp Sri Lanka's west coast, sparking a ban on fishing as international efforts to salvage the vessel drag into a ninth day.

Navy officers and coast guards clean plastic debris being washed ashore, while a marine expert says the pollutants pose a threat to marine biodiversity.
