Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has held talks with Armenian officials during a trip to Yerevan, after completing a visit to Azerbaijan.

Zarif met with Acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan. He was also expected to sit down for talks with Armenia’s President Armen Sargsyan.

In his meeting with the top Iranian diplomat, Ayvazyan said that Tehran and Yerevan pursue comprehensive plans, according to the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

The two countries’ friendship, he added, is the best example of intercultural dialogue and the coexistence of different religions and civilizations, serving as the key to regional peace and stability.

On Tuesday, Zarif met with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev in Baku. The two sides exchanged views on the latest developments regarding bilateral relations, joint economic projects, border tensions between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the implementation of a six-party regional cooperation initiative.
